Death Certificates
Before the business and legal issues of the estate can be pursued, it will be necessary to obtain Proof of Death Certificates from the Funeral Director or certified copies of the death certificate from the Registrar of Vital Statistics in your area. It is always better to order a few more than what you think you will need. Most agencies will only accept certified certificates and not photocopies. Most institutions, agencies and companies in Canada will accept the Funeral Director's Proof of Death Certificate.
These certificates are needed when proof of the death is required For example, in order to transfer the title on a house, mobile home, and automobile, or for banking, insurance, death benefits (ie.CPP)
